Multi-District PETS will be organizing a “people of action” service project at the Salvation Army on South Salina Street in Syracuse prior to the start of the training program on Friday March 16.  The project will involve renovation of a family emergency shelter and will mostly entail painting.  Jason Browne, from “Rollin with Rotary” will film the event and use the video in his Key note address that evening, “Engaging People of Action”.
One purpose of the new Rotary theme “people of action” is to make our organization better known in the communities we serve.  A guest viewpoint will be written for local media on this project, the President Elect Training Program and the impact of Rotary.  The media will be invited to the project and to our training program.
Thirty two volunteers will support this project.  Half will be President Elects and half will be “people of action” from our clubs.  The “people of action” volunteers will be given free entrance to the Friday Night program and dinner.  Free lodging will be provided, if required.  We have four Districts involved in this project.  We will need 4 PES and 4 “people of action” from District 7170.  If you are interested in volunteering, please contact me at or 607-754-0673.
To make a bigger impact for the Salvation Army, we are asking clubs and members to consider a small donation or gift.  A list of needs for the Salvation Army is attached.  President Elects and AGs can bring donations with them to the hotel where a secure location will be identified.
We are asking volunteers to bring trim brushes, rollers, and paint trays with them.  We will have tray liners, spackle, plastic cloths and some paint equipment.  If you let us know what you are bringing, we can cut down on our purchases.
The work team will leave by bus at 12:45 from the hotel.  Pizza and drink will be available at the site.  We will return to the hotel at 4 pm.  We are providing a boost to an organization that provides many services to the needy in our communities.
One week prior to the event, a smaller local work team will prep the work areas so that the “people of action” event can be more productive.  Thanks for your participation.  Another goal of the new branding strategy is to demonstrate an organization that takes action.  The 200 plus clubs of our Multi District area will make a big impact in Upstate New York and across the globe this coming Rotary year.
